Kitchen Excitement

Filed under: Uncategorized — Ashley Hawthorne @ 3:30 pm

It is often said that the kitchen is the heart of the house, and the kitchen sink is the heart of the kitchen.  So… i needed to find a pretty cool sink and faucet!  There is some weirdness with the kitchen sink that is kind of hard to explain but basically the sink and cabinets are REALLY off center from the window above.  As in- the window is like an entire foot too far to the right.  Because we are saving the cabinets and just replacing the tops, we really couldnt do anything about it short of a total kitchen renovation, ripping out the cabinets, etc.  So I made peace with it and am going to try and work with the asymetry rather than hide it.  Sometimes you gotta embrace those things as just “quirky” and move on.  One day I’d like to enlarge the window to make it be centered, but that would be like a 3 years down the road thing.  The debate of having a 2-bowl sink vs a single bowl is a big one amongst homeowners!  I bet some of you have each kind.  i have always had 2-bowl sinks and didnt really like that big stuff like cookie sheets wouldnt lie flat.  This time i decided on the single bowl stainless undermount.  Overstock.com is my new BFF.  I found a sink and a faucet from there.  The goal was to find one that is clean and sophisticated and an adjustable faucet that you can pull out the end.  Here is what i got!

  1. Seriously, I did not even realize the asymmetry! You’re kitchen is like a good one-shoulder Grecian dress! 🙂

  3. i didn’t even notice that in the other pics until you mentioned it here. it looks perfect for standing at the sink at an angle to your right so you can look out the windown AND see your guests across the bar at the same time. 🙂
