Blessings in Disguise

Filed under: Uncategorized — Ashley Hawthorne @ 2:38 pm

This is a little story about blessings in disguise!  When we first decided to renovate this house, we got a home inspection.  i HIGHLY recommend a home inspection for anyone looking to buy a house!  It can save you so much trouble!  Sometimes they can tell you to run like hell in the other direction!  Before I bought the house on Pierce, i was under contract on 2 others and both failed inspection.  It saved me.  So… that being said, our inspection was pretty good at the new house except for the very unexpected news that the range did not work.  Apparently it had been struck by lightning!  The burners work but the oven was shot.

The current one was electric 40″ (HUGE), so we have to replace with the same size, but I really wanted to get a gas range.  I was planning on having to get a gas line run to this location, but come to find out there is a gas line back there!!  yay!  That saved us $500 and took away some of the sting of having to swipe my debit card last night for this beauty:

Those of you who know me know that I LOVE TO COOK!!!  As in- it is my favorite thing in the world (except for laying under an umbrella on the beach reading a book and maybe taking a nap in central park).  I love having parties and cooking for crowds… YAY!  So now i have a 5 burner gas range to make this even more awesome!  Cooking on gas is just so awesome, so I’m glad to be making the switch!  I’ll take a pic of the kitchen when it gets installed!

  1. Nice! You are going to love it! So you went with the Kenmore? My grandparents have had theirs for many years now and it still works great. I fell in love with theirs and had to get one for myself… but went with Frigidaire to match all my other appliances 😉

Warning: The stove top is hard to keep clean! My one gripe about gas cooktop compared to those cool new electric ones…. too much to clean around!

    • Nice, 6 burners. Melissa needs that in the next house. Those home inspectors sure come in handy…Especially the good ones.

  4. I never used an electric stove until I went to LSU and lived in the dorm. I burned pasta. Well, it didn’t look burned but it tasted like it was. ????
Never could figure out how to cook on one of those things. Gotta have gas!
